Emotional and large hearted Salman Khan can be wrong
18 July 2007 (Sawf News)

Determined to shed his bad boy image Salman Khan has taken recourse to good deeds rather than good words. Occasionally, however, even a Khan needs to bare his soul and talk his heart out and that is just what Salman did recently.

Salman would like it if we first focused on his charitable work.

In a candid chat with Bombay Times, Salman said he is inspired by Rajnikanth who has scrupulously given back to the people all that he has got from them.

"I want to do what he is doing. Whatever he earns, he is giving back to the people," he says.

The 41-year-old intends to use his Salman Khan Foundation, which supports several charitable causes, to emulate Rajinikanth. The Foundation is unique because it is largely funded by Khan's own efforts.

"Through my movies, my shows, my paintings, it's basically going to be through my money. If anybody volunteers, I will accept donations, but I certainly am not going looking out for funds," he says

While Salman is known to be large hearted he hasn't done particularly well in matters related to the heart. When it comes to women, Salman admits, "I can go wrong sometimes," alluding perhaps to his relationship with Aishwarya Bachchan.

Lately, there have been rumors that the yet-to-be married partly loving hunk is ready to finally settle down with 23-year-old Katrina Kaif.

Salman has made several public appearances with Katrina but neither of them has yet acknowledged that they are a couple and the reason could be discretion or, more likely, a reflection of the truth.

"The day I get married, or decide to, I will let the world know," Salman says.

"Of course, I intend to get married , but it will happen only when it's destined to. And I will celebrate the occasion with my friends, family and well-wishers . I won't hide my marriage because I need people's blessings and good wishes always," he adds.

Salman is the eldest of Salim Khan's four children from first wife Salma, others being Arbaaz, Sohail, Alvira. The couple, in addition adopted Arpita.

Salim Khan (72) and Javed Akhtar, 62, of Salim-Javed fame have together scripted some of the finest Bollywood films such as Seeta aur Geeta (1972), Zanjeer (1973), Deewaar (1975), Sholay (1975), and Trishul (1978).

After the birth of his four children with Salma, Salim Khan married for a second time with dancer/actress Helen.

After an initial period of resentment, Salman and his siblings have grown close to their second mother.

Speaking of Helen he told DNA, "I love her. My mother and she were best friends even before she married my father. My mother was upset for a while, but later everything was fine. Both my mothers are great women - my dad has excellent taste in women."
